The Harborough district has a number of schools for a range of ages. In a new league school table, it was found that the district has five of the ten best primary schools in the Leicestershire area.
The table, compiled by The Times Newspaper, was based on results of SATS (standard assessment) tests taken by 10-11-year-olds across the country.
The five Harborough district schools which were in Leicestershire’s top 10 are the village schools at Bringhurst, Foxton and Great Bowden, as well as two Market Harborough schools; Farndon Fields and St Joseph’s.
Notably, Farndon Fields Primary School was the biggest mover. The school leapt an impressive 162 places in the tables to 7th this year. The Headteacher, Nikki Prince said “We’ve done amazingly well, thanks to all of our children and staff. As well as SATS results we find it important to make sure that our pupils leave the school as rounded people.”
All the top 10 Leicestershire schools had a 100 per cent Level 4 pass rate. Nationally, an average of 80% of pupils achieved level 4 or above in all of reading, writing and mathematics.
