The Great British Market Awards, saw markets from across the country battle it out to be named Britain’s best.
Held at the Birmingham City Council house, the awards ceremony was run by the National Association of British Market Authorities (NABMA). Harborough Market was named the winner of the ‘Best Small Indoor Market’ category.
Harborough was praised for its partnership between the public and private sector with 45 stalls and an occupancy rate of 95 per cent. The market was particularly well noted for its capitalisation of the social media revolution and providing market traders with one-to-one social media coaching.
Wlliam Naylor, director at Naylors Estate Agents, comments “Markets are a vital part of Britain’s busy high streets. It’s great that Market Harborough is now home to one which has been recognised as one of the best in Britain. The market is the centre of our strong community”
Historic Market Harborough is known for its beauty and its good quality thriving independent shop scene. Harborough Market is a purpose built market hall with a variety of food and non-food traders and a busy central cafe in a clean, contemporary setting. The independent and traditional family-run businesses are what separates Harborough from many modern ‘clone towns’.
