Naylors were delighted to see that Market Harborough has been named as one of the happiest places to live in Britain by The Times newspaper (April 20th 2015). The Times happiest people

Living in Market towns

The newspaper, in its Bricks & Mortar supplement, highlighted the top 15 market towns in Britain, after the Office for National Statistics revealed that market towns are home to the happiest people in the country.

Stating that market towns are now more popular than ever, in part due to ‘independent shops and restaurants, pubs, good schools, social clubs and entertainment, with a community small enough that residents recognise each other when they pop out to buy a loaf of bread’, the paper rates Market Harborough highly.

Market Harborough’s many selling points

The paper notes Harborough’s setting in the beautiful Leicestershire and Northamptonshire countryside as a major selling point, pointing out that “Having so many astonishing areas of natural beauty and unspoilt villages on your doorstep yet being alongside top schools, shops and restaurants is an attractive prospect.”

Also highlighted is Market Harborough’s proximity to London, with the city only a one hour commute away and ‘the electrification of the Midland Mainline’ set to ‘make London seem closer’, and house prices still well below those of the southeast.

William Naylor, Director at Naylors Estate Agents comments: “It’s great to see market towns, especially Market Harborough, getting the recognition they deserve.”

“What better selling point than being home to some of the happiest people in Britain? The article rightly highlights three factors which make Harborough the ideal place to live: the beautiful countryside, the great range of independent shops, schools and restaurants, and the ability to live here and work in London for less, or work for one of Market Harborough’s thriving local businesses.”
