Market Harborough has topped yet another national study into the best places to live in Britain.

The award comes as part of The Times’ annual ‘Best Places to Live Guide’. Day five of the week-long series looked into the best market towns in Britain – which saw Market Harborough claim number one spot out of 20 similarly sized towns.

Best place to live

The study combines data and statistics such as crime rates, house prices and school performance with the local knowledge and expertise of The Times writers to compile the definitive top home locations.

The Times highlighted Market Harborough’s high standard of schools, independent local shops, community spirit, and commutability to London as reasons to it awarded the town the leading position.

The guide noted “Market Harborough is a popular town with commuters. There are several outstanding-Ofsted primary schools, with nearby private options at Oakham and Uppingham. The Grand Union canal runs through the town and nearby Foxton – one of the longest runs of locks in the country.”

William Naylor, director at Naylors Estate Agents, comments “It’s come as no surprise that we’ve been ranked as the best British market town – the town offers something for everyone, The range of independent shops, restaurants and cafés makes it the perfect place to live. The fact that we’re only 20 minutes from Leicester and an hour from London on the train only adds to our positives.”
