As Leicestershire prepares for high demand in 2017, a number of new housing planning applications have been put forward to prepare for what is likely to be a growing property market in the area over the next five years.
The East Midlands’ price growth is estimated to reach 17.6 per cent by 2021, the second highest in the country. Savills have predicted that Leicestershire will be at the forefront and provide the East Midlands’ biggest growth in the property sector.
In recent weeks and months, a number of planning applications have been put forward, with some accepted for development in the near future.
Kibworth new homes approved
Following a rejected application in 2015, a 110-home estate plan in Kibworth has now been approved. Developers appealed the rejected decision and now the Harborough District Council has permitted the plans to go ahead. The development will take place off Warwick Road, east of the village.
Great Bowden proposal
Another plan has been put forward to build in Great Bowden, near Market Harborough. Developers would like to build 50 houses on the land off Leicester Lane. The village already has planning consent for 145 new homes and there has been concern about further developments.
Other surrounding areas
In addition to these larger projects, there have also been a selection of smaller schemes planned for across the district: 16 new homes in Market Harborough, 22 in North Kilworth, 28 in Lubenham and 44 in Houghton-on-the-Hill. There are also plans for 41 homes and a doctors’ surgery in Husbands Bosworth.
