Market Harborough saw spontaneous celebrations break out across the town as against all the odds – 5000/1 to be precise – Leicester City claimed one of football’s most sought after prizes, the Premier League title.
Despite never winning a top-flight title in their 132-year history and overcoming a close-call to relegation last season, Leicester City have achieved what is being described by many as one of the greatest sporting feats of all time.
Leicestershire seems to be very much in the spotlight at the moment. With other sporting achievements of note from Mark Selby and Leicester Tigers, to the unearthing of King Richard III, and claiming one of the fastest growing economies in the country – Leicestershire is shedding its reputation.
But the achievement by Leicester City goes beyond anyone’s wildest expectations – including most of their supporters.
“There was a huge show of support in the town last night and many Harborough residents, who normally prefer rugby, came out in support of their local team. I think that everyone is still in shock now that it has been confirmed” comments William Naylor, managing director at Naylors Estate Agents. “The list of reasons to live in Leicestershire keeps on growing. We’re getting more and more people considering Leicestershire as a place to live and I’m sure that this win by football’s underdogs will help to put the county on the map.”
From everyone here at Naylor’s, congratulations to Leicester City FC.
